Play Development Co-ordinator at Y Bont Family Funzone Project

 

To lead and support a project team to successfully implement and deliver a Big Lottery funded People and Places programme providing a center of excellence for disabled children and siblings aged 4-12 years. To deliver flexible, high quality play activities within a safe and stimulating environment that meets the needs of the children and their families, to achieve positive and agreed outcomes

Salary: £24,124.08 per annum

 

Location: Bridgend

 

Contract type: Fixed Term – December 2023

 

Responsible to: Operations Director

 

Hours: 35 hrs per week to include evening and weekend work due to the nature of the role. Time off in lieu will be granted subject to the requirements of the service. (Playscheme, Saturday Club & Afterschool club)

 

Purpose of Job:

To lead and support a project team to successfully implement and deliver a Big Lottery funded People and Places programme with the key aims to ensure:

  1. Disabled children, siblings and their families will feel less isolated and lead more healthy, active and fulfilling lives.
  2. Disabled children, siblings and their families will have the skills and confidence to become more independent and better able to engage with their local communities.
  3. Disabled children, siblings and their families will feel valued in their own right and become more resilient as individuals and as a family.

  

Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for the implementation and smooth running of the project and oversee the day to day management and functions of the programme.
  • To create a welcoming and family friendly environment, promoting the aims and objectives of Y Bont.
  • To coordinate the monitoring, evaluation and development of the programme, ensuring that programme outcomes are achieved within budget.
  • Report back to the Operations Director on a monthly basis on agreed measures and outcomes.
  • To maintain consistently high standards of play, learning and care for all participants, in accordance with statutory requirements and the organisation’s policies and procedures. To ensure all staff are competent, skilled and have current knowledge to meet these standards, with particular regard to Health & Safety, Safeguarding and Confidentiality.
  • To be a member of the management team and contribute to the operational and strategic planning at Y Bont.
  • To work closely in partnership with key stakeholders to raise awareness and promote the programme.
  • To manage the Playleader and Playwork team ensuring that they achieve and maintain excellent standards in their day to day duties, through induction, individual supervision, CPD and effective team working practices.
  • To assist the Operations Director in setting and implementing objectives and policies for the programme.
  • To recruit, induct, develop and manage volunteers to support the delivery of the programme.
  • To undertake any other duties commensurate with the role.
  • Promote Y BONT as a charity and participate in occasional fundraising activities as directed by the Operations Director

 

Review Date / Right to Vary

This job description is as currently applies and will be reviewed regularly as part of Development and Performance Review, and may be subject to other variances. You may be required to undertake other tasks that can be reasonably assigned to you from time to time.

Person specification:

 

Academic Qualifications: A minimum Level 5 Diploma in Playwork, or equivalent

 

Knowledge & Experience

  • Worked in a registered Childcare Setting for a minimum of 2 years
  • An understanding of child disability and its impact upon children and their families.
  • Team Management experience in a voluntary sector or health or social care organisation (for at least two years)
  • Knowledge and understanding of disability play
  • Direct involvement in the monitoring and evaluation of project delivery, measuring impact and improvement measures
  • Knowledge of effective relationship building and collaborative partnerships with statutory and voluntary organisations
  • Understanding of and commitment to the principles of safeguarding children and young people
  • Knowledge of legislation relevant to the programme, including the Social Services and Well-being(Wales) Act 2014 and the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act
  • An understanding of and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Demonstrates environmental awareness and uses resources responsibly
