Flying the Kite for the Early Years in Wales

Our name change reflects who we are and what we do, or as one of our Trustees put it, “we do exactly what it says on the tin!”

We hope you love our new look as much as we do. This change to Early Years Wales is just another milestone in our development as an organisation.

Take a look at our blog for the story behind the change…

What is a brand?

Rebranding is an emotional and exhausting experience. We knew we were doing the right thing, but when an organisation like ours has such a rich heritage we wanted to honour this but in a contemporary way.

This is where our branding agency designdough come in. Read all about the rebrand process with designdough on our news page here…

Foundation Phase

National Foundation Phase Lead Practitioner Survey

This survey is being carried out by Cardiff University and is part of a wider PhD investigation which explores the ongoing implementation of the Foundation Phase.

The aim of the survey is to obtain a national picture of how the Foundation Phase is currently viewed and implemented in Wales. It elicits perceptions about implementing, managing and working within the Foundation Phase, perceived impacts on children and some of the challenges faced.

Please note that this is not an assessment of the setting and the survey does not collect any personal or setting-identifiable data. Responses are completely anonymous, are aggregated prior to analysis and will be stored securely at Cardiff University.

To ensure that participation is as easy and convenient as possible, the survey can be completed online. It is available in Welsh or English, can be completed on a PC, tablet or mobile phone and should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete. The link to the survey can be found below:

…& finally

The Early Years Team have been very busy this week…

Charlotte Davies, our Communications and Marketing Coordinator, attended the Gofod3 held by WCVA at Cardiff City Stadium on 21st March. The Gofod3 event gives the opportunity to celebrate the third sector in Wales and get together with a diverse mix of people effecting change across the country. The common theme throughout the day was kindness & humanity and included inspirational talks from many different speakers. Take a look at our recent Twitter updates for an insight into Charlotte’s day.

Andrea Wright (South Wales Manager) and Carolyn Key (South Wales Support Coordinator) visited Cardiff and Vale College (Barry Campus) to talk with Level 2 CCLD students and lecturers about the wonderful work of Early Years Wales and our new Student membership category. The response from the talk was very rewarding and we look forward to continuing talks like this in the future.
